Where Is Connolly Station Located?

Connolly Station is located on Amiens Street, Dublin, on the north side of the River Liffey. The station is easily reached from the city centre and is a short walk from Busáras Central Bus Station — the Busáras stop is just a two-minute walk away. The car park entrance is on Sheriff Street, close to the main station building.

Dublin Connolly is well connected to the rest of the city: the Luas Red Line light rail tram stop sits directly outside the station, offering one of the most convenient cross-city connections in Dublin, and Dublin Airport is around 10 minutes away by bus. This location makes Connolly Station a natural junction point whether you're arriving from the north west, south west, or south east of the country, or simply making your way across town.

Connolly Station was opened in 1844 by the Dublin and Drogheda Railway Company, originally known as Amiens Street Station after the street it sits on. The station was renamed in honour of James Connolly in 1966, marking the 50th anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising.

The station is known for its ornate Italianate facade and central campanile tower, a distinctive architectural focal point that has defined the Dublin skyline near Amiens Street for well over a century. Connolly Station underwent major renovations during the 1990s and 2000s, modernising the main concourse and passenger facilities while preserving much of the building's historic character.

Commuter services connect Connolly Station to Bray, Dunboyne, and Dundalk, while DART services provide frequent electric rail connections along Dublin's coastline, operating around six times per hour on weekdays (with a reduced service off peak and on Sundays).
